East Coast Piers Race – 40th Anniversary
Open to fast dinghies, small open keelboats and catamarans, the East Coast Piers Race (ECPR) is the UK’s premier long-distance dinghy race. In 2027 the ECPR celebrates 40 years since its inaugural race in 1987. This major charity event raises funds to support the Cirdan Trust with their important work with socially or physically disadvantaged children, as well as the Essex Air Ambulance. The race is based at Marconi Sailing Club on the River Blackwater in Essex and goes all the way up the East coast to Walton Pier and back again.
There are two course options available, the Colne Point Race which is about 27 miles long and open to all boats with a PY of 1050 or less and the full ECPR which is about 50 miles long and open to faster catamarans only. Entry to the race includes free camping on Marconi Sailing Club’s extensive and family friendly grounds from Friday through to Monday and a meal on Saturday night.
